After fourteen years of successful practice ownership, my husband and I sold our practice in 2021. Whilst I thoroughly enjoy dentistry, and was fortunate to work with a wonderful team, the challenges of juggling family life, practice management and the Kafkaesque NHS contract became all-consuming. Coaching helped me reflect on what was important to me and take my career in a different direction. Selling our business was a rollercoaster of unexpected emotions but has enabled me ultimately to manage
my time more effectively and rediscover my love of dentistry as an Associate and Dentaid volunteer.

I have been a tutor for NHSE Workforce, Training and Education (formerly Health Education England) in the South West since 2014, completing the Coaching and Mentoring certificate in 2018. I can honestly say that this has been life changing, opening a new way of thinking and approaching challenging situations. I have supported colleagues facing difficulties prepare for Fitness to Practice Hearings, offered support to colleagues feeling uncertain and overwhelmed as they enter the profession and to those planning their own dental exit strategies.
