What We Offer
Our experienced mentors provide confidential, personalised mentoring tailored to your needs:
| For Mentors
Many dental indemnity organisations recommend working with a mentor if you’ve received a complaint. Some complaints may escalate to the General Dental Council (GDC) Fitness to Practise process. Early mentoring can significantly improve outcomes with the GDC. If your case involves a Fitness to Practise hearing, please refer to our Development Advisors, who specialise in this area.
| Professional Development
Are you considering a specialist field or seeking professional growth? Our Mentors offer guidance and support to help you achieve your goals.
| Career Development
Whether you’re a recent graduate, returning to practise after a career break, or an overseas-qualified dentist preparing for the GDC Overseas Registration Exam, our Mentors can help you navigate your options and plan your path forward.
| Business Development
Balancing patient care with practice management, staff employment, and regulatory compliance can be challenging. Many of our Mentors have successfully run their own practices and can share insights on transitioning to private practice, managing time effectively, and keeping patient interests at the forefront.
Who Can Benefit from Mentoring?
New Graduates:
Mentoring during dental school and foundation training is common, but formal mentoring is rare in practice after Foundation year. Early years in practice can feel overwhelming with patient complaints, time management, and work-life balance challenges. Mentoring helps ease this transition from academia to everyday dentistry.
Overseas-Qualified Dentists:
Practising dentistry in the UK involves adapting to cultural nuances and communication complexities that can lead to unintentional complaints. Mentoring provides valuable guidance during this transition period.
Facing a Potential Complaint:
Complaints are stressful and isolating. Our Mentors have extensive experience in complaint management and can help you minimise future risks.
Buying a Practice or Transitioning to Private Practice:
Gain insights from Mentors who’ve navigated these transitions themselves.
