Having worked as a Foundation Trainer and Principle Dentist in General Practice for many years I found that a coaching and mentoring style of management helped me support members of the team to reach their full potential.

I have been a mentor for Health Education England working across the West Midlands for several years and supported many colleagues who are having difficulties and those wishing to get back into dentistry after a career break. My role arranging CPD events across the West Midlands places me well to help colleagues create a Personal Development Plan and portfolio of evidence that supports their learning needs. I have helped facilitate fifteen   Coaching and Mentoring 2 or 3 day Programmes  for over a 100 Dentists, Doctors, Practice Managers and Senior Dental Nurses across the region. I have also facilitated some of the CPD and supervision sessions that we run for the mentors on our Mentoring Register 2 or 3 times a year.

I have taken part in significant amounts of CPD and supervision in relation to my role as a mentor that helps to build on my skills, knowledge and confidence as a mentor. I feel that I have good listening skills and intuitive questioning skills that help me support colleagues to find their own solution.
