Covid- 19 Coach/Mentors – pro bono coach/mentoring support

As we all know the dental profession is struggling with extremely difficult times, perhaps the most difficult time we have ever experienced.

A group of dental professionals from all registration categories, who are also qualified/very experienced mentors have come together to provide pro bono mentoring sessions for colleagues and final year students.

This to support individuals during the COVID-19 crisis with emotional/personal support and who need someone to talk with at this unsettling time without them having to worry about paying for it.

Our mentors welcome contact from any dental professional from any registration group as we recognise that this situation has created uncertainty for all members of the dental team.

What we offer:

• Mentoring support - the here and now - fears, anxiety, strong emotions.
• Signposting to more specialist skills, organisations and reliable sources of information. - Help for you to think through what the current situation means for your career going forward once the crisis is over.

We have a list of over 30 dental mentor volunteers who are taking part and whose contact details are included on the Dental Mentors UK website. They are all experienced dental professionals from all walks of dentistry.      www.dentalmentorsuk.com

Individuals should contact the mentor of their choice directly to arrange a telephone call.

All conversations are completely confidential and you would have an agreement with your mentor about how the sessions will run. The mentors have regular video meetings where we can access some additional training which is relevant to mentoring in these circumstances such as remote mentoring (telephone or video) and mentoring for emotions and to exchange information about the types of issues which are raised during conversations.

Our mentors have some positive stories to tell about their general experiences during the COVID pandemic and we will be featuring some of these on our blog page. Some themes which have arisen for dental professionals may be identified however, none of these posts will contain any attributable information and will not describe any mentoring conversations. The privacy of individual dental professionals is paramount.
